EAMON (EAMO) DONNELLY
Artist, Illustrator, Photographer, Cultural Archivist & Milk Bar documenter.

Photo: Mark Lobo, Melbourne, 2014.

Illustrating professionally for over 15 years, Eamon's work has been printed in the pages and featured in the campaigns of some of the world's biggest brands and magazines.

In 2012 he launched his nostalgic side project and photographic homage to an Australian suburban icon, the Milk Bar with a 100 page book titled "MilkBar: A Photographic Archive". Photographing Milk Bars throughout Australia and getting out from behind the freelance illustration desk, the project began with a single photo of his own childhood Milk Bar "Dave & Peggy's" in 2002, which had sadly closed years earlier, this sparked a passion and calling that Eamon has now dedicated every spare minute travelling and photographing the last of Australia's Milk Bars. 15 years since that first photograph and many radio, TV, web and print features later, the project now features over 6,000 photographs of shopfronts, interiors, signage & portraits along with interviews and stories from his journey, which will become the grander book titled
"MILK BARS: Milkshakes, Memories & Mixed Lollies" due in 2018. Follow updates on the project at milkbarsbook.com and on social @milkbars_

The Island Continent is another side project that helped launch the Milk Bars Project in 2012. A vehicle for his passion and archiving of the lost Australian culture, the website is an online archive of the underrepresented Australian image of the 1950s to the 1980s and has been lovingly featured in various media outlets who celebrated this documentation of the colour, the culture and unique image of Australia's recent past. Eamon was invited to speak at The National Gallery of Australia in 2015 about the archive.

Eamon is also a teacher at Victorian College of the Arts teaching his students how to make fake props and graphics for Film and Television.
